Like her sister ship, the Spirit of Vancouver Island, the MV Spirit of British Columbia is one of BC Ferries “S” class ferries. With a capacity of 358 vehicles and 2100 passengers, the “S” class ferries are the largest in the fleet [in 2025].
Seen here in the early evening light, after making a hard starboard turn around Piers Island after leaving Swatz Bay on Vancouver Island, bound for Tsawwassen. She has a top speed of about 20 knots.
