Active Pass is a strait between Galiano Island to the north, and Mayne Island to the south. It’s just under 3 nm long, and connects Trincomali Channel to the Southern Strait of Georgia. It’s a main route for ferry and recreational traffic heading to or out of the Gulf Islands. Because currents can very fast through the narrow strait, sailboats typically only transit at slack tide.
