The Canadian Coast Guard vessel Gordon Reid, steaming through English Bay on her way to First Narrows and Vancouver Harbour. She’s 50 m. in length, and came into service in 1990. She has a cruising range of 2500 nm and a cruising speed of 12 knots. She generally serves as an off shore fisheries vessel.
She’s named after Captain Gordon Reid (1895-1989) who was born in Bella Bella and the first Indigenous Canadian to get his Masters Certificate (Navigation) and continued to work on numerous commercial vessels until his retirement at age 78.
