Escaping a crazy busy Vancouver (thanks FIFA) for some quiet in Howe Sound.
After a busy week, and lots of snarled traffic on the Lower Mainland, it was nice to take the day and just sit back and let Madsu play in the chop. The wind was under 10 knots, but it had been windy earlier and Howe Sound was a bit lumpy. The foredeck was pretty much soaked in salt water splashes after the 2nd tack.

With the Round Bowen Race scheduled for the next day, there were a lot of sailboats bound for Snug Cove, so a lot more traffic than usual.
I was surprised so many were under power considering it was a perfect port tack to drive into Howe Sound and head for snug cove. I sailed along side a couple of 30+ footers who were motoring in – Madsu kept up to them nicely with just a 100% jib and full main.
Had a rousing welcome back from one of the local heroes on the dock while I washed Madsu down and tucked things in for the day.
This is AIS data. It’s not as granular as the data from my chart plotter, but it gives you an idea of my romp.
