Mid July

Another fabulous day in Howe Sound.  Despite a forecast of 15-20 knots, the wind was fairly light in the early afternoon.  We had a pleasant sail out into the Straight of Georgia.

On our way back I spotted this Corsair F27 just off Passage Island. I’ve seen it at the marina but this is the first time I’ve seen it out on the water. I’d like to see it when there’s a bit of wind, apparently they can crank it up to 20 knots – sweet.

Winging It

Had a lovely day out on the water – missed the sun earlier in the day but it didn’t really matter.  A light northerly outflow from Howe Sound made for a leisurely pace – just a few other sailboats out in the sound enjoying the day.

Heading dead down for a bit on my way back to Fisherman’s Cove after beating up the sound for a ways.

Slow Hand

It was a day for a light touch on the tiller – and a lot of patience.  Lovely fall sky and still shorts weather in Howe Sound today.  We didn’t go anywhere fast, but then again, what does it matter ?

Fall in the Bay

20091019_fall_horseshoebay

A sure sign of fall in Horseshoe Bay – aside from the colour of the leaves.

Sewell’s has started pulling some of their rental boats out of the water.

Usually this side of that float is full.

Thanksgiving Weekend

20091010_feet
It takes a bit longer for the sun to warm things up, but still able to sail barefoot in October, pretty grand.

I completely forgot my cameras, and had to take this with my cell phone.

Howe Sound Cloud

Light to no wind in Howe Sound this afternoon. But a lovely day with loads of interesting clouds to watch while going nowhere in particular.

Pam Rocks

20090830_pamrocks-sm

I’ve been land-locked the last couple of weeks with a (boring) illness.  I’m finally getting back on my feet.

Spent the day today with Sea Dragon Charters, a charter dive boat, shooting pictures for their website.  Grabbed this shot while the divers spent a little time checking out Pam Rocks in Howe Sound.

Looking Good from Both Sides

20090711_2views3

While at Plumper Cove on Keats, we hiked over to the Barnabas General Store on the Barnabas Camp compound.

A 40 minute hike each way, we took a big pass on the Christian books on the shelves and instead we went a little crazy and had a round of Barq’s Root Beers.

The ice cream looked pretty good.
